Violet and Alex Tug of War. yo amor dogos dogo argentino puppies june 17...

Loved both of these puppy so much. I really miss these little guys. That is one of the main differences between our small kennel and a big one, we breed for love and betterment of the breed. Not for money, I have seen bunches of breeders say that are small and their children play with the puppies, but they have 5 males and 10 females, there is no way the puppies are getting the love a attention  they need. There are just too many of them. Check out our reviews and you will see, how wonderful our puppies are. I am in contact with everyone I sold a puppy to and a lot of them post on our Facebook page. If you are looking for a puppy, we will find the right puppy for you. Thanks and God Bless!

Rosie's First Time Camping!

We have not been camping in over a year, but this weekend we finally got to go, so we took Rosie with us to see how she would do with a lot of people and a lot of other dogs. She did great, a real joy to have camping with us. She was really friendly with everyone and only barked at a couple of other dogs. Rosie had a blast and everyone just loved her, at night she did not make a sound, she is just a wonderful dog!

Dogo Argentino Survival Collars

This is the new Survival Collar that I made for Rosie today and the Survival Collar I made for Faith a couple of days ago. Rosie's has about 70 feet of Para cord, a steel coupler, a whistle, and a fire starter. Faith's just has a butt load of Para cord, about 100 feet. :) I have tried a lot of collars and the dogos seem to mess them up fast, so I made a couple of my own to see if they last any longer.

This is called the wicked twister braid and took me some time to master.

The steel coupler is great to have in a jam.

Whistle

Fire starter inside the clasp.

Faith's collar.

It is not as cool as Rosie's but it has been a long time since I have made any thing with Para Cord so it took me a bit to remaster doing it.

Dogo Argentino Health Problems

Dogo Argentinos are a very healthy breed but they do have some health problems that any new owner needs to be aware of.

Hip Dysplasia is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints. It is a genetic (polygenic) trait that is affected by environmental factors. Hip dysplasia is associated with abnormal joint structure and a laxity of the muscles, connective tissue, and ligaments that would normally support the joint. As joint laxity develops, the articular surfaces of the two bones lose contact with each other. This separation of the two bones within the joint is called a subluxation, and this causes a drastic change in the size and shape of the articular surfaces. Most dysplastic dogs are born with normal hips but due to their genetic make-up (and possibly other factors) the soft tissues that surround the joint develop abnormally causing the subluxation. It is this subluxation and the remodeling of the hip that leads to the symptoms we associate with this disease. Hip dysplasia may or may not be bilateral; affecting both the right and/or left hip.

Entropion  is a medical condition in which the eyelid folds inward. It is very uncomfortable, as the eyelashes constantly rub against the cornea and irritate it. Entropion is usually caused by genetic factors. It cause infections that may cause scarring of the inner eyelid.

Ectropion is a genetic condition in which the lower eyelid turns outwards. It is a weakening of tissue of the lower eyelid this condition can be repaired surgically.

Epilepsy causes seizures due to abnormal bursts of electrical activity in the brain. They can start and stop very abruptly and last any amount of time from a few seconds to a few minutes. Canine epilepsy is often genetic. Epilepsy is most commonly recognized by involuntary movements of the head and limbs, however other characteristics include salivation, lack of bodily functions and anxiety. Animals often lose consciousness and are not aware of their surroundings.

Deafness genetic deafness is often associated with white pigmentation. Dogo Argentinos can be totally deaf  "bilaterally" or "unilaterally" deaf in one ear.

Yo Amor Dogos guarantees all of our dogs against all of these and most other genetic disorders that lead to death or total disability for a full two year. I have not seen another breeder who backs their dogs for that long. If anything should happen to your dog we will replace your dog with the first available puppy of equal or greater value .
